NO:1 - FOUR WHEEL FLAT WAGON
Built myself many years ago from scrap components and Cromar White wheels, buffers & couplings. |
This photo taken in October 2010 shows the same flat wagon with sides fitted, Heywood top box style. |
During the early part of 2008 we constructed a top box, Heywood style, which fits on top of the flat wagon.
It is designed to carry ballast and deposit it either side of the track, not on it. |
Inside the floor slopes both ways and doors are provided on both sides. Initial trials showed it to be a great design and we are looking forward to using it. Our thanks go to Mike Decker in the USA for giving us the design idea |
As you can see in this photo, the ballast is deposited well clear of the track. The truck is leaning to the left as it is still loaded on that side! |
The left hand side awaits discharge. The only problem with this design is that once one side has been emptied it becomes very unstable wanting to tip the other way. |
NO: 2 BOGIE FLAT WAGON
This flat wagon I built from a really nice kit obtained from Plum Cove in the US. It was very simple to construct using very basic skills. I was particularly impressed by the quality and fit of the timber components. One of the bearings arrived damaged however they replaced it immediately. Please note, the wheels come as standard to IBLS Standards so you will need to request wheels to the 7.25" Gauge Society Standards or build points with check rails to suit.

PNP SIDE TIPPING WAGON
The PNP side tipping V wagon arrived on site in June 09 from Station Road Steam. This is a very neat design and works very well. Very easy to control the tipping and remains very stable during the tipping proceedure. |

NO: 4 & 5 - BOGIE TRACK CARRYING WAGONS
Also arriving in June 09 was this track carrying wagon, orginally built at Ledbury High School during, I believe in, the 70's. A second similar wagon is also on site along with a 4-wheel guards wagon, both also ex Ledbury. These items came here from the now defunct Bickton Railway. |
